Khalsa Aid – Vaisakhi Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a walking challenge that involves walking 24 miles over the three highest peaks in Yorkshire: Pen-y-Ghent (691m), Whernside (728m) and Ingleborough (723m) in under 12 hours.
Fitness and Experience:
The challenge is physically demanding and requires a good level of fitness. It is advisable to begin training early outside on hilly terrain several times a week.
Transport:
Participants will be responsible for making their own way to the start point at Horton in Ribblesdale, Yorkshire, near Settle. For those of you needing transport this can be arranged from Ramgharia Gurudwara Sahib, Bradford by contacting Satwant Singh on 01274220347 or 07828762961 as soon as possible.
On the day:
Registration will open at 06:30am on Saturday, 23rd April 2011 for a start at 07:00 am. A printed map of the route will be provided to all participants on the day.
Checkpoints:
There will be two checkpoints along the route (at the base of the second and third peaks) where transport will be available back to Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
Refreshments:
Participants are responsible for bringing their own packed lunch. Chocolates, fruit and water will be available at all checkpoints.
Clothing and footwear:
As weather conditions are very variable comfortable walking boots and warm waterproof clothing are essential.
Sponsorship:
All money raised by participants will be donated to Khalsa Aid. No amount is too small!
