About the Artist
Krishna Chakraborty is an established name in world of vocal Indian classical music noted for her exceptional voice, power and range. She started her training at the tender age of 5 and had the exceptional fortune of learning under maestros, Pt Bholanath Bhatt, Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan, Pt. Tarapada Chakraborti, Pt. Nivruttibua Sarnaik and Pt. V.G. Jog.? The influence of different gharanas ? Kirana, Rampur Shahswan and Jaipur Atrauli ? has helped her evolve her own style that set her apart from other artists. She excels in khyal, thumris and tappas with equal ease. Chakraborti performs at all leading festivals in India and has been residing and teaching in London since 2002.
